How to Dominate Nuk3town 2065 in Black Ops 3
It’s official: Black Ops 3 is bringing back Nuk3town.
The fan favorite map has a few changes. First, it’s set in 2065. Second, it’s got a “3” in it. Because, you know, it’s in Black Ops 3.
Here’s everything you need to know about the reimagined version of Nuk3town 2065.
How to Get Nuk3town 2065
If you want to play Nuk3town 2065 from launch day, then there are two options:
-All preorders of Black Ops 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC come with a Nuk3town download code in the box
-All launch day copies of Black Ops 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC come with a Nuk3town download code in the box
Unfortunately for last-gen gamers, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers will not receive access to Nuk3town 2065.
If you want to guarantee yourself access to Nuk3town, then you’ll want to pre-order Black Ops 3. However, you could get lucky and get a launch day copy of the game with the code inside.
It’s expected that Nuk3town 2065 will be some sort of purchasable DLC once the new Call of Duty game is officially released.
The game launches on November 6, by the way.
It’s A Slightly Different Nuk3town
The original Nuketown map was an image of perfect 1950s American suburbia, complete with mannequins, buses, cars, and white picket fences. The neighborhood, for those who missed the memo, was called Nuketown because it was built to test the destructive power of a nuclear bomb. It was a fake neighborhood with 0 residents.
Nuketown 2025 appeared in 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, but the key structures remained mostly unchanged. There were some spiffy new vehicles and house designs, but nothing too major.
40 years of history appears to have changed Nuketown. From the one promo image we’ve seen thus far, this is what Nuk3town 2065 will look like:
That’s a bit different, right?
Here’s what Treyarch boss Mark Lamia said in a statement on Nuk3town 2065:
“We carefully adapted the design of the map to make sure that it fit with our new movement system, but to also make sure that we retained the spirit and the fun that made fans fall in love with it in the first place.”
In other words, the original Nuketown map wouldn’t have worked well with the new setting. There are too many new movement mechanics that would have affected very part of the map.
Spend some time getting familiar with Nuk3town 2065 – because it will be a big shift from the original.
Nuk3town 2065 Tips and Tricks
Nuketown has always been a map that’s perfect for SMG players. It’s too small to effectively snipe and it’s too large to focus exclusively on close quarters combat (unless you’re camping). Black Ops 3’s Nuk3town is no different, and it plays favorably to anyone who’s good with the SMG.
Black Ops 3 has 6 SMGs, including the Kuda, Sten, Razorback, VMP, Vesper, and Weevil. The Kuda is a good all-around SMG but the Vesper can be deadly with a little practice (especially at close range).
Team Up and Camp
Part of the appeal of the original Nuketown maps was that you and your buddies could hold down an entire house on your own with a little bit of careful positioning.
If you don’t play CoD with friends, then now is a good time to do so. Nuk3town 2065 has the same defensible houses as the original two Nuketown maps. The houses are too big and open to hold down on your own, but you can defend the house for a surprisingly long time with 3 people. Just get ready for a lot of “camping” accusations.
Be Better with Grenades
If you’re camping in one of the houses, expect to fight off a barrage of grenades. Grenades are one of your most valuable weapons on Nuketown, especially Semtex grenades.
Consider Using EMP Grenades on Target Objective Maps
Grenades and Semtex grenades are all right, but EMP grenades can be surprisingly useful on maps with target objectives (like Headquarters, Hardpoint, Demolition, and Domination). Throwing EMPs into these capture points can help you knock out lethals and non-lethals, including bettys, claymores, spark charges, and trophy systems. You also get points for clearing out this equipment.
Best Killstreaks for Black Ops 3 Nuk3town 2065
Personally, I like using the following killstreaks/scorestreaks on Nuk3town 2065:
UAV: Never a bad idea to see where everyone is
Dart: The Dart is a drone equipped with three lock-on missiles. It’s controlled by the player. Aim for the backyards of the houses for some easy kills.
Hellstorm: A more powerful version of the Dart, I recommend firing this into the middle of the map, where it will kill everyone in the center area.
In general, any of the killstreaks with a good blast radius and target seeking missiles will be effective on Nuk3town 2065. The only problem is that there are also lots of places where you can run inside, so these killstreaks won’t be 100% effective every day.
The G.I. Unit is also not a bad idea, depending on where you put it. It’s a robot that defends a designated area for you.
Best Perks for Black Ops 3 Nuk3town 2065
Start by picking any one of the SMGs mentioned above.
Some of my recommended perks include:
-Attachments: Target Finder, Suppressor, Rapid Fire
-Perk 1: Hardline
-Perk 2: Cold Blooded
-Perk 3: Dead Silence
-Tactical: Shock Charge
-Wildcard: Primary Gunfighter
This is a good run and gun style player that lets you be stealthy while staying off the enemy team’s radar. At the same time, tactical weapons like Shock Charge are incredibly useful around Nuk3town 2065’s buildings, where they can reveal enemy players behind walls.
Look for the Secret Chimney
Black Ops 2’s Nuketown 2025 had a devastating part where you can throw a grenade down a chimney in the one house, and then that grenade would explode in the middle of the room on the first floor.
It’s unknown if Black Ops 3 will have a chimney. I don’t know why the people of 2065 would need chimneys, but you can definitely expect some type of chimney-like device that will be useful for breaking up first floor campers.
SMGs Aren’t Working for You? Try Shotguns
Shotguns are the number two most preferred weapon on Nuk3town. If you’re pretty good with the shotgun, then I’m preaching to the choir here.
But if you can’t get kills with the SMGs, then switching to shotguns might be the better option.
You will have to adjust your gameplay style a little bit. With a shotgun, you’ll need to avoid the center areas of the map and even many parts of the backyard. The houses, however, work great.
There are two shotguns we know about in Black Ops 3 so far, including the Haymaker 12 and the KRM-262. If you like camping in the buildings, or running and gunning around the houses, then the shotgun can be devastating (even in the hands of a moderately talented player).
