Guild Wars Nightfall ships October 27th

Announced today from the Guild Wars Factions™ World Championship in Leipzig, Germany, ArenaNet® and NCsoft® Europe give fans the date they have been waiting for – Guild Wars Nightfall™, the next game in the award-winning and critically-acclaimed franchise, will be available in stores worldwide on 27 October 2006.
In this third Guild Wars campaign, players must fight to hold back the night as a mad ruler attempts to free her outcast god and bring darkness to the continent of Elona. But they won’t fight alone. Guild Wars Nightfall introduces new customizable Heroes who level up, follow player instructions in combat, and use skills and equipment of the player’s choice. These Heroes will follow the player through savage coasts, ancient monuments, and poisonous deserts during an epic story that spans 20 missions and hundreds of quests. And for the ultimate one on one challenge, competitive players can choose to enter the new Hero vs. Hero Battles, where they pit their customized team of Heroes against those of other players from around the world.
Guild Wars Nightfall will be available in both Standard and Collector’s Edition. The limited edition and highly-coveted collector’s edition will include the Guild Wars Nightfall game as well as a Making of Guild Wars Nightfall behind-the-scenes DVD, collector’s art book, collectible skills pins, a character mini-standee, a poster-sized map of Elona, the Guild Wars Nightfall soundtrack CD and more.
Guild Wars, an instant bestseller worldwide upon its release in April 2005, and Guild Wars Factions, the number one game in both North America and Europe earlier this year, are global online role playing games. Publisher JoWood has announced a new FPS called The Mark, though very little is known about it at this time.
US Marine corps officer Steve Fletcher and top-rated mercenary Austin Hawke join up in a thrilling battle against international terrorism.

Europe to get pink PlayStation 2 this season

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced the expansion of the PlayStation®2 line-up in Europe with the introduction of a new colour.
The new, limited edition Pink PlayStation 2 will be available from selected retailers throughout Europe from 8th November 2006 and will come complete with two Pink Analog Controller (DUALSHOCK®2) and a Pink Memory Card (8MB) (for PlayStation 2).
Following the increasingly widespread appeal of PlayStation 2, through the popularity of socially interactive games such as BUZZ and SingStar, the decision to produce a Pink console reflects the growing and diverse demographic that PlayStation 2 has developed.
“PlayStation 2 is the accessible, affordable way to enjoy new social, communal and interactive entertainment experiences, through software titles like SingStar, Buzz and EyeToy”, said Dan Hill, PlayStation 2 European Brand Manager. “The Pink PlayStation 2 is funky, fresh, and fashionable, and will further broaden the console’s continuing popularity and relevance with a fun new twist”.
The new Pink PlayStation 2 will make its debut European appearance on the Sony Computer Entertainment Stand at Games Convention, Leipzig, 23 – 27th August 2006.

ParaWorld goes gold

Sunflowers, leading producer of computer games and specialists in tactical and real-time strategy, announced today that the real-time strategy game ParaWorld has reached gold master status. As scheduled, ParaWorld will hit the shops on 15th September 2006, exclusively distributed throughout the UK by Koch Media on its premium Deep Silver label.
Today ParaWorld - with a production budget of over 8 million euros, the most expensive game ever produced for the RTS genre in German speaking countries - reached gold master status. This means that the game can be released as scheduled on 15th September 2006.
The 3-D real-time strategy game ParaWorld takes the player into a prehistoric parallel world with exotic tribes and powerful fighting dinosaurs. Apart from the unique storyline and sensational graphics the “Army Controller” is ParaWorld’s innovative highlight.
