Please introduce yourself and the game Raiders of the Lost Casino.

 

We have started at about 1994. That time we published RPG dungeon Rytíři Gralu (Knights of the Graal) and adventure Hovnivalove. While overtaking a new adventure system we published Horké Léto 2 (Hot Summer 2) and Fairy Tale about Father Frost. (This was the first globally distributed game). We also joined two other teams that had produced independently in Bohemia (adventure Gooka1, action board game Colony 28, RPG Brány Skeldalu 1 (Gates of Skeldal 1) and co-operation on important Czech projects) and we created the continuation of the adventure Gooka: Mystery of Janatris.

 

Currently we deal with an action adventure Raiders of the Lost Casino, that we intend to praise the classics by Lucas Art (e. g. SAM & MAX and DAY of TENTACLE) and to leave the branch of adventure games for ever, nevertheless we have developed ourselves there.

 

What kind of comedy can we expect?  (Sight gags, funny lines, etc)

First, we try to include the visual humour into the game – we think that the players are always pleased to see that. So, you can look forward to lively animations as well as crazy creations at the scene backgrounds (but only few players will notice some of them). We also wanted to “catch” the time when the game happens and to transfer it to the comedy style, and, because we speak about the period of gross Mafioso and corrupted policemen, we chose the black humour that underlines this prohibitions time.

Will the player be able to jump in and just play the casino games?

Playing games in the casino will not be the key story and we do not intend to create a casino simulator. The player may try the one-handed bandit, but to be open, the only casino in the city, that used to be owned by you, has been “overtaken” by the mafia gang and it is really not very clever to walk under their noses and to play the roulette or poker.

Tell us about the locations of the game.

We hope we have created a mixture of really various environments to enable the player to enjoy discovering of new scenes. If the base little town Snake City is to be mentioned, we will let the player to look into the local prison, into sewers, to the cemetery, museum and also into the Hades.

What types of casino games will there be?

As we have already said, the casino is owned by bad, bloodthirsty guys and it is not the best idea to go to the casino, if they stay there, or even to try to win something – if want to enjoy your pension.

 

Who is the typical gamer you are marketing this to?  Should other types of gamers be interested in Raiders of the Lost Casino?

We try to create a game that will “fresh” the adventure branch and that will bring fun not only to hard-core fans of this branch, but also to players who prefer action games. I’m afraid that we won’t address fans of fly simulators or of strategy games. But we hope, that those, who like to smile and to have fun while playing a game, won’t miss this game.

What else can the player do besides playing casino games?  Are there "side missions"?

Apart from casino games, that are not present – with the only exception – the player can expect a number of obligatory tasks or side-missions. Some of them will be unlockable by secret items. And what can the player expect? A tractor race, a cruise in an amphibian through flooded underground or shooting at Mafioso, stealth missions, a number of logical puzzles and escaping from deadly traps in a factory. I think, it is really quite enough.

What will the development team be working on next?

As we have already outlined, this game is the last adventure published by our team and we want to say good-bye to this branch. There will be more action in out next game, but it is too early to publish anything more.

When is the game expected to ship?

Q4 2005 

 

Will there be a demo?

Of course. Just before the publishing date or simultaneously to the publishing we will release a demo.
