Title: Pokemon Trozei

Date: 03.30.2006

Genre: Puzzle

Platform: Nintendo DS

Developer: Nintendo

Publisher: Nintendo

STORY

It's a puzzle game. Honestly the story is about as good as hitting yourself over the head with a hammer repeatedly. OK not that bad, but I wouldn't pay to see a movie about this.

GRAPHICS

Compared to most puzzle games, this game is really pretty, I mean, even the pieces have a few frames of movement. And the style they use for the cut-scenes is just one thing; beautiful. They are done in a nice style which is similar to Samurai Jack, but the character models are more Powerpuff Girls.

CONTROLS

The only reason the control score isn't ten is because the game doesn't feature a control scheme which uses the control pad and A, B, X, and Y (plus R, and L). You use the stylus/touch screen to move columns/rows of Pokemon side to side/up and down. when you move a column down the bottom Pokemon falls from the top of the screen (to the top of its original column) and when you move a column up, the Pokemon all move up one space (and you can't move them higher) then they fall after half a second.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay is also top notch. To make your Pokemon disappear ("Trozei") off the screen you must make a row/column of four where you can end your (lame) combo there, or you can make a row of three Pokemon after and then more rows of two. Three or four (or more!). More often than not, once you're at the stage in your Trozei where you can match two Pokemon, they just fall together without help. On the world map you will sometimes have a choice of one or two levels, and if you're stuck you can just replay other levels. There is also a junkyard, where you can pay a coin (coins are earned by getting a high score in a story mode level) and you et to play a round in a HUGE arena (just to earn more pokemon). There are bosses every four or five levels, who are slightly tougher, as they can turn all of the Pokemon into silhouettes for a few seconds, or raise the amount of Pokemon you need to Trozei to win.

There are a few other gameplay modes like endless mode (which I'm not going to explain, for obvious reasons) and a few multiplayer modes (Co-Op, and BATTLE!). You can also send out a game called Pokemon Trozei Mini to your Friends via Download Play where they can play endless (and co-op with you or someone else) Now the neatest element of this game is that you capture Pokemon when you Trozei them and they are added to your Pokedex.

OVERALL

This game is definitely worth your money if you're a Pokemon or a puzzle fan. So go out and buy this game with all of that hard-earned cash of yours.
