While its not the the best RPG out there, Silverfall does have the little things that can grab the interest of some of the players. The interesting decisions made about what kind of graphics to use. While it is a beautiful game, after a while it does get a bit old. Wither your a spell user, or an in-your-face hack'n'slash type. It basically comes down to the same thing over and over. Get quest, kill a bit, boss fight, go complete quest - Get quest, kill a bit, boss fight, go complete quest - etc.
As for the look of the game, like I said before I do find it quite beautiful, though not nearly as beautiful as Oblivion for example. The physics of the game are kinda neat, but also somewhat frustrating, like if you kill a monster on the edge of a cliff for example. There goes all the items or gold it dropped... The character areas are a little frustrating as well, or the monster areas. Say you are trying to run away from a large creature like a tree dragon or an eagle. Due to the camera, its rather hard to run away, and you instead find yourself clicking and attacking the thing you'd like to flee from. Only to find yourself dead the next instant because your out of potions or what not.

Another thing is the balance of the game. The balance between spell users and the fighter types is very bad. Spell users have a HUGE advantage at the beginning of the game, and really during the whole entire thing I've found. Because all you really need to do is freeze, attack, freeze, attack, etc until they are dead. As for the fighters, you have the chance to miss (which is great), armor makes a big difference, and there are more skills to aid the fighter specifically, so the ability points are spread out more thin like.
And due to the miss chance for the fighters, you have a much larger chance to die A LOT more, unless you constantly carry 20-30+ life potions with you. I am of course speaking, during the lower levels of the game until you get your armor higher up so that they enemies don't do that much damage to you. For the casters, by the time you are level 35-40, you already have the capability to do 500+ dmg per spell to a creature, not to mention their not attacking you at all due to the fact you have frozen them. And thats only at around half of max level.

Am I the only one who thinks this game is a little bit similar to Dungeon Siege 1 & 2? Because I find it quite similar, besides the graphics. The crappy camera angles, game play, repetitive action, etc. I do not think the game is worth what is being charged for the release price right now. It is a pretty game, but thats just about it, besides a few small, unique things that may keep players interests for a week or so.
So, what this all wraps down to his this. If you have some extra money, and are bored right now. I would get this game, its how I came across it. Though if you are looking for a unique, fun experience for an RPG, one that is really good. I don't recommend this one very much. It is a pretty game, but the story is weak, its repetitive, and its lacking that special something that makes a great game. Something the Elderscrolls series has found, or some of the older, more remarkable games of our time.
